“You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you.” Nehemiah 9:6
“In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.” Psalm 104:24
Look out your window. See the wonder of God’s hand. Warm autumnal colors have given way to the blacks and grays of winter; yet, the blue sky and golden sunsets of days to come will remind us that summer awaits.
Creation. We live in it. We are part of it. Yet, in our modern world, we are increasingly disconnected from it. Does it still fill us with the same wonder it did when we were children? Can we still marvel at a leaf or a rock? Do the stars ring like bells in the heavens or do they pass overhead unnoticed? Are we like the fish who never notices the water in which it lives? I hope not.
God gave us a beautiful world reflecting His glory. Look out your window; look to the sky; look to the ground; look all around. See His handiwork. It truly is medicine for the soul.
Prayer: Lord God, I thank you for your Creation and for making me part of it. I thank you that it sustains my body and nourishes my soul. May I rejoice in its beauty and always be a good steward of what you have made. May I cherish it as a gift. Amen.
