“But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” Exodus 4:10
Moses would not have been anyone’s first choice to lead Israel out of slavery - he wasn’t a great speaker and probably not too fast on his feet when it came to speaking with Pharaoh. He was also a murderer. Come to think of it David - a man after God’s own heart - was an adulterer and murdered by proxy. Peter was a hot-head who chickened out when the chips were down, and Paul … well, you all know his past.
The crazy thing is God uses imperfect people because that’s all He has to work with. No one is so sinful, broken, old, poor, sick, weak, grumpy, or anything else that they cannot be of use to God. You just have to be willing to listen to His call and then as Jesus said, “Pick up your cross and follow.”
So how is God calling you today?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be who you would have me be, to know the way I am to go, and to do what you call me to do, not allowing excuses or self-doubt to get in the way. This I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
