Why this, why now
Sending out the daily devotional by text message has become increasingly difficult because the number of subscribers has grown. I send out about 2,000 texts a month for the daily devotional in addition to regular communications. Somewhere along the line my messages are flagged as spam, which is why many of you do not receive my texts.
I have looked at several solutions to the problem. A paid texting service cost $60-100 a month. I have tried some free options. The problem still lands on the numbers. The best option I have is to host the daily devotional here on Substack.
What and How?
If you gave me your email address (and you probably did since you are receiving this) the devotional will come to you in your email. OR you can save the link to my “Substack” frederickjohnsen.substack.com that’s the place where I write the devotional (the webpage) and just go there to read it. If for some reason you are not subscribed you can do so below by typing in your email.
Now, you might run across something about donating money. DO NOT. You don’t have to. I don’t want it. Just choose the free option. Keep your coin - go have a coffee.
What kind of community are you looking to build here
As with my daily devotional you received as text message, I hope what I post here will give you inspiration for the day and will keep you connected with God and one another as believers. I enjoy writing the daily devotional for you. Doing so is also a spiritual exercise for me that keeps me in the Word. I pray we can move forward - in a different way - but move forward nonetheless.
What to expect
You can expect things to be much the same as they have been. The daily devotional will continue to be a short, easy to read, reflection on God’s Word, provided Monday-Friday. It will just require a “click” or two on your part - basically going to your email. This should not be hard as most of you get notification when a new email arrives. You can also expect a few glitches along the way as I learn to do all this Substack stuff. If it’s new for you, please remember it’s new for me. Please be patient and bear with me.
